Sweetree’s Horsham Downs Country is collected from our home apiary just a few minutes north of Hamilton. This area is predominantly farmland and country living with bush gullies beside the Waikato River. Here our bees forage on pasture and river wildflowers, garden flowers and natives. Everyone will enjoy this honey!
Here is our tasting notes from this seasons Horsham Downs Country:
- Taste: Much like a sweet fruit liquor, with the perfect balance of sweet and sour – think verjuice
- Colour: Rich golden hue
- Texture: Thick and hearty textured with a slight grainy texture
- Smell: Savoury Aroma with a strong hit of sweetness
- Food Match: Great to sweeten pickles or in a salad dressing. Would also suit smoke foods like fish, mussels or chicken
Many of the Horsham Downs Country jars of the current batch have some frosting around the edge of the jar. This is due to the presence of air trapped between the side of the jar and the honey and crystals forming. It does not affect the taste of the honey.
